Only saw one review on this album, which surprised me, considering how amazing it is. Speaking as an audio engineer, this is one of my favorite mixed albums of all time. Songs like "Razor Sharp" really show how dedicated kaRIN and Statik are to creating a particular sound. The dynamics, alone, are a blow away... not to mention the multiple recordings kaRin must have done to have a solid affected voice, as well as a clean vocal track that sounds beautifully compressed, for clarity, when the chorus hits. The mesh, between the two, is a stroke of genius (as far as mixes go). Additionally, songs such as "Transfer" and "Halo" use a similar mixing technique. Moreover, I'm blown away at the use of kaRIN's voice as a pad, underlying some of her choral vocals. She sings the harmonies that, by way of Statik's mixing, embellish her main vocals, and bring depth to the overall mix. Too often, bands are just in a rush to crank out their next 'hit single'. Meanwhile, Collide puts time and effort into every track. They actually care about the finished product, and work feverishly to perfect their sound, which is evident in their mixes.
As a fan, I have to say that this is my favorite album by Collide. I recommend it to anyone with a good ear for music and mixes. I cannot say enough about this CD, and I hope that Collide will continue to create songs/mixes like this, in the future.
